Une Goutte d'Eau sur un Volcan

Scoring "Une goutte d'eau sur un volcan" asked a simple question from the start: how do you write music for a journey that tests the mind as much as the body of the two adventurers? Two men, a volcano, and at the end of the road a dive into a high-altitude lake. The score had to carry all of that without ever overstating it.

My approach was to build the music around a handful of recurring themes, each tied to a specific emotional thread, and let them shift in energy depending on where the adventurers found themselves. The same motif could appear fragile and uncertain during the climb, then return later with weight and resolve once the stakes had changed. I wanted the score to breathe with them, to lean in when doubt crept in and pull back when the landscape deserved the silence.

What drew me most to this project was the tension between the raw scale of nature and the quiet bond forming between two people facing it. The music had to hold both ends of that rope at once: the vastness of the setting and the fragility of those crossing it.
